Benefit |
| SoftMouse |
Allows researchers to track and record their mouse genetic experiments, breeding and colony management activities. |
Researchers will now be able to easily record and manage their mouse colonies in one centralized database allowing for rapid retrieval and manipulation of mouse data. |
| StreamCell Platform |
Centralized, highly scalable platform which will be used to house and implement all of the modules that the researcher will need to conduct their research and experiment process efficiently. |
This platform will provide the researcher with one central location to access all of their research data. They will be able to pull up text files, graphs, images and manipulate and share these files all within the same environment. |

Future Directions:
In addition to the core features of the SoftMouse system that address the common needs of life scientists conducting mouse model studies, future releases of the system will offer add-on modules designed for custom applications such as mouse surgery experiments, pharmacological treatments and behavioral experiments.
ISH’s ultimate goal with SoftMouse is to take the mouse research management process to a new level where digital technology is used efficiently to save time, cut mouse maintenance and experimental costs and increase productivity. ISH plans to achieve this goal by introducing enabling technologies into the lab and automating the process, thereby allowing researchers to spend more time on experimental design and research activities and less time on basic management activities.
The SoftMouse record-keeping system will become even more efficient and powerful in future releases by linking the databases of the basic mouse experiment capabilities of the SoftMouse to other databases associated with modules from the StreamCell Knowledge Management and Collaboration Platform in order to better manage their research by integrating their mouse records and experiment data with pertinent research projects. By cross-referencing the compatible and complementary database environments of each added module, researchers will be able to create powerful synergies between their own research and the research of their collaborators, thus accelerating their work process through the timely access to relevant information.
