The Problem:

The need for a consolidated platform is a direct result of the surging volumes of data generated from and stored in disparate systems and the need to search, retrieve, manipulate and share these data with colleagues. The haphazardness of data and knowledge management presents a major bottleneck to the progress of scientific research in addition to a drain on laboratory resources.

The three key issues facing the scientific and academic research community stakeholders are data management, intellectual property policy as it relates to rights/ownership and patent commercialization. Specifically, the challenges research institutions face are:

  1. How to realize and capture additional revenues
  2. How to identify ownership of intellectual property
  3. How to accelerate the commercialization process

Despite the availability of a variety of electronic data management and resource management applications, existing solutions are fragmented and thus do not meet the basic data integration requirements of the customer.

The Solution:

Iseehear develops software solutions that manage knowledge creation and intellectual property throughout the full research and experiment process lifecycle within the biomedical research laboratory. By allowing for tighter integration of the various systems and software used in a biomedical laboratory, and by automating the traditional paper-based methods of capturing and managing data, Iseehear's solutions will:

  1. Greatly increase research productivity
  2. Significantly enhance speed to discovery
  3. Dramatically decrease total cost of ownership associated with IT

Iseehear offers a highly configurable, role-based system that will help to ensure that the management of research is more responsive to the needs of the researcher and that the right data is being provided to the right people at the right time, resulting in increased efficiency, decreased costs and reduced project risk.

Value Proposition:

The financial impact of data management and intellectual property management manifests itself as direct costs to the following stakeholders: researchers, principal investigators, research institutions and funds granting agencies. Iseehear's solutions will provide the following value to each level of stakeholders:

Scientific researcher
  • Integrating current paper-based methods of data logging with digital formats into a single, customizable and intuitive user interface.
  • Increasing access to information, thereby reducing the time required to locate critical information assets.
Principal investigator
  • Facilitating remote access, transparency, continuity of research data.
  • Decreasing data redundancies leading to a great reduction in cost and time expenditures and increased efficiency and productivity of the scientific discovery process.
  • Reducing risks associated with staffing departures and lost data.
Research institution
  • Assisting in patent verification, validation and registration.
  • Increasing visibility, via access permissions, of research data and intellectual property generated by the researchers.
Funds granting agency
  • Increasing and accelerating the identification of discoveries that have clinical potential.
  • Improving monitoring of research grants, research spending and research progress.
Greater community
  • Improving ROI of tax-payer investment into biomedical research.
  • Faster and better development of cheaper health products and services.
